Meet Your Teacher
Tonna brings nearly 50 years of drumming expertise across a wide range of musical styles, from intimate ensembles to large jazz big bands, performing both in the UK and internationally. With 15 years spent in theatre productions, including the West End, and a rich history of recording for bands and theatre soundtracks, Tonna continues to play actively in bands spanning Jazz, Latin, Pop, Afrobeat, and Rock.
Having studied and refined over 100 drum methods, Tonna has developed a comprehensive curriculum suited to students of all levels, up to Grade 8 and beyond. Lessons are offered from his home studio, in schools, and privately, with experience in online teaching. Advanced students can also benefit from his specialised content on YouTube.
HOURLY RATE: £35 + 50% studio fee (if applicable)
TEACHING: In-person

ABOUT THE LESSON
In our first session, I’ll get a feel for where you’re at with your playing and map out what areas will make the biggest impact—whether it’s groove, timing, technique, or exploring creative solo ideas. If you're aiming for exams, I can guide you through the steps to hit those targets. For advanced players, we’ll dig into improvisation, unlocking concepts that push your creativity and expand your musical vocabulary.
My ultimate goal is to help you truly enjoy the drums. Together, we’ll dive into the art of improvisation, discover new ways to express yourself and build a connection with music that goes beyond just playing the notes.
