Barney Brown is a freelance multi-instrumentalist, studio, and live musician with 2 years of experience as a band coach at iRock School of Music, where he specialised in teaching children of all ages to play rock and pop.

Drawing on a diverse career as a musician and educator, Barney focuses on teaching metal, hard rock, and pop drumming. He is well-equipped to support beginner and intermediate-level students who want to learn how to play the drums for fun or with ambition, solo or as part of a band, helping to build their confidence behind the kit.

Barney holds an Enhanced DBS check and currently teaches music lessons in person at Pirate Reading.

HOURLY RATE: £30 + 50% studio fee (if applicable)

TEACHING: In-person

PREFERRED LOCATIONS: Pirate Reading

LEVELS: Beginner to Intermediate

SPECIALITIES:  Hard rock, metal, and pop.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE: 2 years

EDUCATION: Pangbourne College A Levels and GCSE’s.

ABOUT THE LESSON

Dive into laid-back lessons with Barney. He starts each session by discussing your practice progress since the last lesson, followed by warm-up and sticking exercises.

After warming up, it’s time to get on the kit and learn songs. Barney covers genre tropes, specific parts, and live performance techniques. He also has experience teaching double kick if required, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging learning experience that’s tailored to your goals.
